Online Acting Lessons for Beginners
In this course, students will use their imagination to ground themselves in character, expand their senses while using the space to dig deep into the circumstances that the character is currently experiencing. Moreover, students will learn to build their work from the inside out by asking the Who, What, When, Where, Why and How of a character. Further, they will learn to seek out the truest expression and life of their character. Students will be carefully placed in a class appropriate to their age, level and experience.
Class Description
Each class will offer acting games and exercises to build spontaneity, “reacting vs acting”, improvisation, body awareness and vocal versatility. Students will explore their environments using Stella Adler’s techniques and begin to explore building a character. They will tackle a new short scene to implement these techniques using their imaginations to create different scene scenarios and characters.
Objectives
Students will have a new body awareness and be able to describe “high status” vs. “low status,” the “moment before,” the “fourth wall” and increase their vocal range for possibilities of portraying a variety of characters. They will learn to seek out the truest expression and life of characters.
